New member and some Mosins

Post by Chumlee Bumsnag »

Hi folks
I'm new to the forum and it was suggested that I post some pics of my Mosins. I have a few and only have pics of a couple. I'll take some more pics later.

This is my first, a 42 Izhevsk Ukrainian refurb. Nothing special. Just a very nice rifle.

Next is another Izhevsk refurb in a darker finish and brass caps on fore end.

39 tula in nice shape with hex receiver. This one is like new.

Welcome "new member and some Mosins".

What is the tang date on your '38 Tula?

I was wrong about the Tula being a 39. It's a 1936. The tang has a Tula star and I can just barely make out 36 under the star.

Yeah, a hex receiver on a later date Tula was intriguing. But a '36 date would explain.

Gorgeous gun, nonetheless.

“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
