Lugansk factory (Cyrillic L). Whats weird about it is how the headstamp is setup because I've never seen a Lugansk headstamp like this. I wanted to say the year Lugansk always did it at 12 o'clock but after 1899 they used a 3 digit number, so this isnt (19)06 or else it would say 906. This looks similiar to how my .43 Russian Berdan headstamp is but I'll have to take a look at it later. Do you know the OAL length of this? This doesn't look like a typical pre-1908 7.62x54r round. The headstamp reads to me as 1890 which is odd..
It was given to a friend collector by a Spanish collector. But what is strange in headstamp , is the year .
The Lugansk plant was constructed in 1894 and began full production in 1895, then the 1890 does not fit in this period.
So what´s the meaning of the “90”??? or it´s “06”????
It's round nosed bullet , and the pointed " spitzer " bullet known to the "L" for light , was adopted in 1908. So I think that the year is 1906, but it is also strange because in 1900's was adopted the 3 digits number to identify the year.
I do not have the OAL lenght , but you can see the measurements on graph marking paper.
I can not find any information on the net or in books and I really need to identify this ammunition.
cheers
