Type 99 Arisaka

Post by Fledge »

Cleaned up the Type 99 and thought I would share some pictures. I don't know much about these, so if anyone could chime in it would be appreciated. The mum has been ground off, and the barrel appears to be chromed. I can't find any import marks.

Nice Type 99. This website helped me a lot when I picked up mine. http://www.castle-thunder.com/series.htm

Looks like a Nagoya first series to me. Nice!

The barrels are chrome lined. Mine is in excellent shape, and a nice shooter. How is the bore on yours?

Ammo is hard to find, normally special order, and damn expensive. Sign up at SGAmmo.com and Cabelas to receive in stock updates. Cabelas actually shows it in stock right now.

Nice. I think these rifles are really under appreciated.

They are fine, well made firearms. The lack of appreciation may be due to the difficulty to find and pay for ammunition. I bought a nice example nearly a year ago and I have yet to shoot it, something I intend to rectify.

Yep, really nice, nothing looks better than the Type 99 with a type 30 bayonet attached to it, nice rifle.

I was surprised as to how fun they are shoot. Mine hit the bullseye easily at 100 yards.

The Type 99 Arisaka is highly underrated when compared to other battle rifles of WWII. It was the first rifle to be designed with a chrome-lined bore. The bore one I have also looks pristine. Only gripe I have is the lack of available ammo. You have to reload if you want to shoot the rifle much. I really like your Type 99.
