44 Izhevsk 44 PU sniper

Post by Miller Tyme »

Well I took the plunge and bought another PU sniper since any collection of 1944 Mosin Nagants wouldn't be complete without a PU from both arsenals. Its all numbers matching all izhevsk parts except the bolt head and the hammer/striker. This amused me since my 44 Tula PU is also all stamped matching and all Tula parts except, you guessed it the bolt head and hammer/strikerwhich are Izhevsk. ( and no I didn't swap the parts around to make them""correct"".

Very nice one! There is just something about a PU Sniper that just gets hold of you!

And it's got that "on top of the receiver import mark from RGUNS in small font" seal of approval, so you know it's real!

Nice Sniper Miller! 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)

You are so right about the "R-Guns" seal of approval Dolk. I have had a couple of chances to buy 44 Izhevsk PU's the past couple of months but both where early Century Imports and while they are suppose to be the real deal that Century stamp always puts that little doubt into your head. :?:

“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

You can tell it is a RGUNS sniper by looking at the second photo. See the small RGUNS dot matrix import marks on the top center of the receiver. That is the only place RGUNS marked their snipers. Everything else is marked on the side (like normal), and they use a very small font.

I'm definately going to get me an RGUNS Sniper. But how are the optics on those two? Is the glass clear and unfogged? Anybody else who owns a sniper, please chime in if you don't mind. I'd like to hear about the optics on some of these PU scopes.

Hopefully one of these days I will be able to afford an Rguns sniper. Until then, I will have to drool on this forum.
