'22 Dragoon

Post by martin08 »

I've had this for a couple of months, and forgot to post it up here!

Nothing special. It's not matching and a Finn rebuild. But it's still a Dragoon. Note both the early and late Izhevsk stamps, and what looks like a hardness check on the receiver and barrel. Receiver is not dated, but appears to be early Soviet.

I hope E.H. isn't still looking for his gun. I have it now. Enjoy and thanks for looking.

I thought you had found a .22 Dragoon. I was about to shit.
“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Very nice.  Are those solid bands I see? Tang date?

All Dragoons are special, but that's just me.

"EH" and "AH" seem to have been the "Kilroy Was Here," of the Winter and Continuation Wars.

Yes, solid bands.

No tang markings at all. Typical of the late-teens, early-twenties.

Nice Dragoon Matt, these are getting harder to find everyday and have garnered quite a following.

Great one, not a common year either.

My first Finn had initials like that. I like the character it adds to this super fine Dragoon. :)

Nice one Martin   I like the old girls that have double D's  The soviet stamp on the receiver is cool. Must have been refurbed/repaired at one point and stamped to ensure it's "sovietness".

I am nearly certain that I saw an old photo of Earnest Hemingway holding that rifle. :music2.gif:
