Gunsafe War 2016

Post by locomotiveguy »

I plan to have a gun safe shoot off with all my military rifles. The war starts 1/1/2016. The goal is to shoot all my military rifles at silhouette targets at 100 yards. Sandbags ok, sights stock, ammo your choice, slings fine, bench ok. One target will have 25 shots, 20% at the head. Scaled down targets ok for shorter distances. One target = a battle. Three battles = a war. Ten warm up shots allowed to begin. The goal is to get some range time with all my pets because some just sit and I feel bad about not testing them out. At the end of the year the tally will show which nations won and which lost. I have 13 rifles I want to engage and wonder if I can at least have a battle with each by the end of 2016. Some are sighted in better than others and two I have not even shot yet. Any interest, suggestions, opinions?

Sounds like an excellent project!

The past few years has been busy for me and I have found little time to go shooting. Hopefully I too can join in on trigger time; Although I'm not a fan shooting at paper. I prefer cans, rotten apples, reactive targets, clays, trimming dead trees, barrels filled with water, old appliances, etc, etc.... :devil2:

That would take me ten years or longer, these days arthritis can make shooting a challenge, I like paper targets large enough for me to see.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Sounds like fun other than the cleaning afterwards.

Sounds fun, but it would take me a month to clean all the rifles.

I have a shoot scheduled for Sunday. I have invited two engineering students from India to join our regular mix. I have a ball with new shooters, especially those from countries that do not have guns. I am working with a Chinese physics major who really wants to come shoot some Chinese rifles, but he couldn't make this one. He told me he had shot T-53 in video games...

I hear you all. I have a small cataract in my right eye but none in my left, so I shoot left handed. Three guns at a time would cut down on the cleaning. Same aches and pains, old age is a bitch but what the hell maybe the war takes more than a year. I will try to post my range results as I go with some pics.. Thanks for the interest.. remember loco motive guy says it all

Good grief the politically correct ninnies are probably hiding in my underwear drawer now. Where is the roll of aluminum foil I need a new hat. :bonk:
