Picked up an M38 Today.

Post by Jackson »

It was being advertised as an "M44 without the bayonet"

But when I paid closer attention to the pictures...

It was a 1944 Izhevsk M38 in the correct M38 stock, completely unblemished!

Cleaning rod is present, rifling is immaculate!

Pics later when I can get some that actually look good.

Aztec Arms import, 15 year old import, Aztec was a sponsor on the original RMNF back then until they ran out of Mosins to sell . Nice find, Aztec was a bit more selective than some , they would match the bayonets to the 91/30's , stuff like that.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I knew that import mark looked very familiar but could not place it for the life of me. They had very nice refurbs back in those days and I had more than a few years ago. I doubt I have any left these days as refurbs them selves are few and far between. They always had dark good looking wood and later they had a lot of black paint on their blue to cover scrapes in the blue. That indeed must have had good storage and treatment to look that nice today. They had the coveted refurbs back then and their prices were a little higher than the normal ones back then at maybe $129 or so an up for special stuff like Multiple MO marks etc! Nice find these days for any M38 is getting rare and the asking prices are just flat stupid to me. Bill
