RC K98 dou 44

Post by redspoon »

Won this one on GB recently, russian capture K98. The russians refurbed these I believe in the 50's or 60's. All metal was reblued and s/n's scrubbed and electro penciled to match barrel s/n and yes they smothered them in shellac. A lot of the shellac is flaking off, sight hood is missing but it does have a cleaning rod. The bore has really good rifling, although a little dark. Passed headspace on a field gauge with flying colors, also the little capture screws were missing. Tiny Knox Tn import mark under the muzzle.

Des, this is my first K98 and probably the last, they're usually sold way above my pay grade. This one was priced about 100 to $150 below what most RC K98's go for.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Very nice! It should be a good shooter. I have a couple of RCs, and you're fortunate they didn't peen the swastikas, though there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to when they did that. And yes, RCs are slowly creeping up in price. Even $100 below market is a bargain!

Yep, as the commercial says everyone knows that. :D Just saying it's below average going rate for an RC, if you buy one at the going rate of $400 plus u still gotta pay ship and transfer. What say you :vconfused:

This is prompting me to make another thread. I've got questions on a gun I'm looking at.
