Picked up 2 91/30's today for a good price. They are both Tula and one is a very good 1927 Hex receiver (all matching except the steel butt plate) and the other is a 1939 Standard (all matching except the magazine follower and bolt) that looks as if it's been used at the front killing Nazis. They have both been counterbored but that does not bother me, at 100yds the 1927 shot just over 2 moa and the 1939 about 3.5moa. 1927 has a bright bore with excellent rifling and th e39 looked like it needed some loving. After about 10 minutes with a tornado brush, it looked lightyears better. Could see some very minor pitting, but the rifling was really good
Top is the 1939, bottom is the Hex 1927
Tula 1927
Tula 1939 (I wonder if it's killed any Nazis)

Nice looking set of Mosins
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Thanks, the hex i put back in the original stock. I have the metal stock plates for them both, but keeping the "Recoil" pads on them because i like the LoP with them on.

Nice looking rifles, and damn good shooting. Would look a helluva lot better without those damn rubber butt pads though. Ha ha

Thanks. Call the shooting beginners luck. It was with good, US made ammo. I'll let you know how it does with surplus light ball when I get it
