Just bought my first mosin!
Just bought my first mosin!
Hello, So I just picked up my first mosin today, Ive been searching for a while and finally found one I like. I took a few pictures of the marking to see if I can find out where it was made and when. I see that it says 1920r, and its in Russian but I cant seem to match the picture up to any other ones online. I was wondering if someone could help me out and tell me where its from and any information they have.

Those are the pictures I took of the rifle today, I didnt think about getting a full pic but I can upload one tomorrow when I go out to my storage unit.

Re: Just bought my first mosin!
Welcome to the board . From the one pic I can see you have a 1920 Izhevsk ex dragoon 91/30 Soviet post WW2 refurbished rifle. Nice date, 1920 is still a date when the Russian revolution was ongoing. The Dragoon rifle was identical to the later 91/30 except in the handguard, bands, and sights, these were upgraded later on to 91/30 normal. 1920 is not a commonly encountered date, very good find.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Looks like you got a nice one for your first.
We like looking at them so post a pic of the whole rifle.
You can also post the pic by putting IMG tags around the url and removing the S from the https.

Not a common year at all. Great grab
On Facebook? Check out the non-sporter preservationist group at: OOOPS. Deleted by Facebook because it's evil to even discuss collectible firearms on social media these days.
Re: Just bought my first mosin!
Nice. I like it when a new collector finds a first rifle that stands out above the typical wartime refurb. Like JYD says, 1920 is a good find. ![thumbsup ](./images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

Wow, that is really in great shape from what I can see. You scored good. Welcome to the fun, and the craziness, and the disease! Mosin-itis is not curable, but can be treated.
Re: Just bought my first mosin!
I will take pics of the whole rifle tomorrow and get them posted up.

Nice looking rifle, congrats. on your first one.
Re: Just bought my first mosin!
For your first mosin you did great. An ex-dragoon is always a plus to a collection, but I think you got a very scarce ex-dragoon. Congratulations!

That one picture you showed is of the importer Molot. Molot is a relatively new importer and nothing is really known of them as an importer.
