My new rifle

Post by mitch5690 »

Never mind the m39. The m38 and the m91 I was looking at. I ended up with a m28 ski trooper I think. Pics to follow.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Is there a way to upload pics directly from your phone? I don't have a computer with me.

I knew I had to have it the moment I saw the double set of sling slots. They had it listed as a m39

Very nice Mitch. I would love to add one to my collection but they seem to evade me :Drool1:

The front half of the stock has been cut for an m27 popsicle stick.

Anyone know what the Z on the back of the stocks for? also there's a very very faint "S" with a number below it in the back of the stock also. Whole guns still pretty gunked up where the wood meets the metal and the bolt too. Whoever owned it previously never had it apart or shot it. Tried to take it apart but the rear screw for the band won't come out.

The rear band might be an early M91 band. In that case the screw would have a left hand screw.

I tried the rear band again and the screw just spins either way but doesn't move? Maybe it's stripped and wedged in. I wanna know the tang date but don't wanna bugger it up either

The S with number that is visible in first pic is the Civil Guard District number. It would be VERY cool if that number matched the CG number on the action (52176).
Nice rifle, congrats!!

Very nice. Funny how these "rarer" variety seem to show up in groups. I just found one last weekend at a gun show. Mine was as clean as any Mosin I have ever purchased other than to powder fowling. The previous owner must have cleaned it up real nice and shot it but didn't clean it after the shoot???? Hopefully, you can eventually get that barrel band off and get it cleaned up
