rim fire revolvers
I picked up this H&R Arms Trapper 22 Rim Fire Revolver recently. From the information I've been able to gather according to the serial # it dates back to around 1930. There's some wear on it but not a lot. The bluing is approximately 70% + the bore appears excellent. I'll clean it up a bit & then see what I can hit with it.
Anybody else have an old 22 revolver?....Post some pics!
There's something about them that I really like!

Re: rim fire revolvers
Nice revolver, I have a H&R .32 rimfire revolver around someplace.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Re: rim fire revolvers
Sweet! I would love to get a small .22 revolver. How is the trigger? Most rimfire revolvers I've looked at have pretty heavy triggers.
Let me make a short, open, blanket comment. There are no good guns. There are no bad guns. Any gun in the hands of a bad man is a bad thing. Any gun in the hands of a descent person is no threat to anyone--- except bad people. -- Charleton Heston
Guns are not good, they are not evil. Save those descriptions for the people holding the firearm. -- Unknown

And many other firearms

Neat little revolver, gwilly! A friend of mine just recieved a S&W very similar to that from his Dad. Big grip, small revolver. Can't wait to try it out this summer. Hope you have a lot of fun with your H&R .22, gwilly!

Very cool, a fixed sight target revolver! I like it.
Re: rim fire revolvers
That is a nice H&R. I like the octagon barrel, it should be pretty accurate. Here is an old Ruger Single Six I picked up a little while back. It came with the holster.

Re: rim fire revolvers
Here you go, gwilly. This here's a real trapper's rimfire revolver. A S&W model 34-1, also known as a .22-.32 Kit Gun. My Dad bought it for me 45 years ago. And YEAH, I had one helluva good dad. Coming back from the service in a wheelchair, I think he knew he wasn't going to be around too long. He wasn't, but while he was, he taught me stuff. I remember summertimes, we'd shoot a brick apiece every week. To those who have accused me of hoarding .22 ammo, let me remind them that amounts to a case of ammo over every summer vacation. A case EACH. We shot year round, but we really shot in the summer. Since them days, this revolver has travelled more miles with me, in backpacks and canoes, than most can imagine. It's fed me, comforted me, even defended me just by its presence. It will always be a link to a time that ended much too early. When I say "From my cold dead hands...", THIS is the one I'm picturing.

Re: rim fire revolvers
Not to hijack Gwilly's thread, but I've bought 2000 rounds of .22LR ammo in the last month or so, never paying more than six cents per round. More specifically, I've bought three bricks of CCI Blazer for $27.99 each and one brick of Federal Champion for $19.99bunkysdad wrote:Lodi, you are hoarding rimfire ammo? I'll be right over!
I've had the opportunity to buy several bricks for around $35, I just refuse to pay that much. I explained how in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=30&t=20005
And it's still working. You just gotta be FAST. Those deals aren't there long. Now Russell, you want to drive from Texas to southern ohio, you come on up. Only take you a coupla days. We'll shoot .22's just like it's the old days again.
