Finn M28-30 No Date...
Finn M28-30 No Date...
I purchased this M28-30 rifle and bayonet over the weekend from an older gent looking to divest himself of his collection. I believe it's an early "No Date". The rifle's in nice shape with a great bore. The bayonet is a Fiskars. Here are some pics.

You have indeed found a hard one to get! It looks to be in great shape and the bayonet is wonderful too. When you take it down there should be a number under the wood that sort of looks like this 128/29 that will tell us about the year and such. It is indeed a very hard gun to find and makes a great piece to base a whole collection on. Congrats! Bill

That's a cool rifle, first over-stamped Civil Guard stock cartouche I've seen, the early M28/30's don't come up too often. Quite a few years ago I found that is about a dozen serials away. Congrats on that one!

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Should have noted that number combination under the would will tell you approximately when it was made too. The over stamp on the wood of the butt stock over the stock date is quite unusual too. All in all one of the hardest to find and noting all the oddities of it makes that one a true home run! Congrats again! Bill
