The range i have been going to only allows soft point or hollow point rounds on the rifle range.
The cheapest i have found hav been close to $1 per round- is this the norm?
Any suggestions on what / where to look? ( i have been to the big box stores in my area )

Silver Bear used to have reasonably priced soft points. With the state of ammo prices these days, $1 per shot might be the new normal. I haven't bought any in quite a while.
