This is my American baby. A US M1917 Eddystone. Barrel date is 1-18 and the bore is beautiful. Such a great shooter, too! Unfortunately the sling is a repro, Kerr No-Buckle, but everything else is all unmolested goodness
I bought this one from a friend last year for around $500. I think I did well on it.

You did well, original Kerr slings are rare now, hard enough to find when I got one 22 years ago.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
