I got around to shooting it a while back and it is fun to shoot and fun to load. One of the old guys at the club instructed me on all the how to and how not to on bp. It is starting to age nicely. Shooting it sped up the process.

It will brown itself naturally over time.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I posted this on the other thread, but this old Pietra is right at 40, as indicated by the proof code of XX9 being from 1973. I don't know if it has ever actually been polished bright but I don't think so. I got this in a trade with SgtRob.

I like the aged look of that one. Cabela sells those and I think they are already finished and not a kit like mine was. So it was probably polished when new.

The Cabela's brass 1851 is a fully finished revolver, but this is still sold in a kit, you just have to hunt around for it, the kits have unfinished brass.
