Re: 7.62 Ammo, Brass Case with no Coating
Why? Do you want to shoot it? It was cheap several years ago when large amounts were imported but none has come into the country for a few years. Some of it has case shoulders too far forward so some wont chamber. They also have lube dents in the cases and when I firs shot my m91/30 on the third round there was no powder In the case, but primer was live and sent the bullet into the chamber! Another 1/2 and I would've been able to chamber the next round! The market price would be current or slightly below current market, good stuff for fire balls in an m44 or m38.
Re: 7.62 Ammo, Brass Case with no Coating
I've never seen any of this stuff. Here is what I shoot when I want some really high quality brass case ammo:

I've reloaded lots of PPU cases and they are the best.

Re: 7.62 Ammo, Brass Case with no Coating
Your welcome, I think my year was '87, it was when I was new to mosins(still am) as a gift as all the gunstores were out. Still have 14rnds left out of the 20 he gave me.
Re: 7.62 Ammo, Brass Case with no Coating
And if I can make an inference, the way the title says" no coating" sounds like you know you have sticky bolt and are trying to get away from the laquer on the steel cases?

Re: 7.62 Ammo, Brass Case with no Coating
It's regular brass case ammo, there is no coating , or the need for one. It is still available when you find the occasional collector willing to part with some. I have a spam can stashed away from years back when I shot up cases full of this stuff, but of course I am not parting with it. This was ammo that looked like a child made it sometimes, wrinkles in the case necks, primer pocket and neck sealer sloppily applied, sometimes the accuracy could be spotty, but it all worked just fine.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Re: 7.62 Ammo, Brass Case with no Coating
I've reloaded PPU brass in several calibers, most recently 54R, with great results. My LGS even has unfired new cases for the same price as Graf and Sons.tjtM38 wrote:I've never seen any of this stuff. Here is what I shoot when I want some really high quality brass case ammo:

Here is the neck dents JYD was talking about and a sealed case. It shoots, accuracy wasn't great, and you have to check the rounds, I've found loose bullets and split necks. One cool thing it it seems it make a heck of a fireball compared to other ammo from a M44.
