A trip to the woods
I went fishing this weekend and took the 91/30 with me. These are from approx 50 yards. I was amazed at the accuracy, it was better than my Winchester 67 22lr ! I hung the rusty can from a branch and was able to consistantly reach out and tag it. Made for quite a fun Saturday, I didn't even mind that I only caught one fish!

That's a pretty good way of spending a day! Fishing and shooting, it doesn't get much better than that!

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Always fun to shoot in the great outdoors! I don't like indoor ranges even in the Winter! Bill
Re: A trip to the woods
I agree, the only time I shoot indoors is to qualify for "night time" simulation for work (they dim/turn off the lights)zeebill wrote:Always fun to shoot in the great outdoors! I don't like indoor ranges even in the Winter! Bill
Damn, I'll bet that's going to leave a mark! Probably hurt too!

I must admit , I did shoot a Trout once and eat what was left of it but that was with a 410 , Not sure what a 7.62 x 54 would do to one
May be cook it at the same time

The only fishing I want to try is with explosives, but they won't let me.

Too funny! To be fair, I did get a late start and it was hot that day. The fish seem big on breakfast/dinner, not so much on lunch. Thats my excuse and I'm sticking with it! And once I got started shooting I kinda gave up on the fishingrideandslidejim wrote:No wonder you didn't catch any fish with all that muzzle thunder !! At least you didn't take a carbine .

Members of certian ethnic groups used to get away with it around here @ 20 years ago, when they first emigrated here. "That's how we fish back home" was their excuse....... "Junk Yard Dog wrote:The only fishing I want to try is with explosives, but they won't let me.
They still occasionally have problems understanding catch limits.
OK, off the soapbox. Nice shooting, paitient! Sounds like a great day in the woods.

equation, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a
computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly.

In the Mekong Delta we fished that way, with frags and concussion grenades, and once in while, C4.Junk Yard Dog wrote:The only fishing I want to try is with explosives, but they won't let me.
But we would never eat the fish, just let the little kids jump in and get them when they floated up......

Re: A trip to the woods
Years ago the term " a trip to the woods" meant that someone in the group wasn't coming back, It wasn't always cement shoes in the Hudson river, or a nice grave under a warehouse floor someplace.
