Clean a brown Bess after firing 50 rounds of black powder loads then complain
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I have never seen a Chinese type 53 out in the wild that wasnt dirty as hell and have a stock that looked like someone ran over it with a lawn mower.
