I posted this rifle a few months ago - it was determined that it could not have been SCW because the rear sight had been pinned. I still do not know the history of that rifle but it sure is cool; gives my SWMBO the creeps......

In some countries you could be court marshaled for defacing government property. In the USSR you could be sent to a punishment battalion ( as good as a death sentence) sent to the gulag, or summarily shot by the NKVD commissar attached to the outfit.
