For it's size and weight it is surprisingly easy to handle.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Yes indeed he did! The pistol has been thoroughly checked over and is immaculate. I fear though, as the wife said she would like to shoot it at least a few times...

Got to take it out on Sunday, here's my first six shots at 50 yards. It's more accurate than I am and I'll be the first to admit it takes some getting used to. I only had enough powder with me to shoot two cylinders as I had forgotten to refill it after the last time out with my .50. This is with 25 grains of fffg and Hornady swaged round ball. Ice cream bucket lid for a target, lol.

You ate the ice cream while shooting that lid didn't you? Great excuse for polishing off all of it, you can't very well store it away with holes in the lid Nice shooting.

Let me make a short, open, blanket comment. There are no good guns. There are no bad guns. Any gun in the hands of a bad man is a bad thing. Any gun in the hands of a descent person is no threat to anyone--- except bad people. -- Charleton Heston
Guns are not good, they are not evil. Save those descriptions for the people holding the firearm. -- Unknown

1939 Tula (laminate stock)
And many other firearms

We go through a bit of ice cream here, the buckets get used for all sorts of stuff but the lids just seem to build up in the cabinet. Wife pulled about 25 if them out, said do something with these so took them down to Paul's place where we shoot. We take a sharpie and outline the holes after a few shots so we can tell new ones, works great. Get too full of holes it goes in the trash!

I do the same thing with used paper plates when I need targets. Old boxes cut into squares with a dot drawn in the middle, anything free and flat
