Re: Project pistol I just picked up
Damn! I have heard of brassers shooting loose with extensive use, but I have never heard of the cylinder pin pulling right out.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

neglect and abuse anything enough and eventually it'll let loose. I put it in the back of the gun cabinet, might run across one that isn't as bad that I can use parts off it.

Use it to make a cool shadowbox display, plastic skeleton hand wrapped around the grip, broken gun, yea, that tells a story

well you did a nice job on the stocks (actually the whole thing) and learned a few things.
Damn, I'll bet that's going to leave a mark! Probably hurt too!

Now you got me thinking JYD... a Confederate flag background, pistol with the bony hand wrapped around it, a Confederate Officers hat pin and a few .44 round balls...

That sounds great Then we read in the paper about some guy in Missouri who got busted on suspicion of robbing Confederate graves

Stay tuned boys, I've got another one on the way, and it's a doozy! Should be here in a couple of days, soon as it gets here I'll snap some pics and get them up. Might have to find a wide-angled lens though...

I'm hoping for a 16"/50 caliber Mark 7 gun off a Iowa class battleship.

Re: Project pistol I just picked up
I bought one of Traditions Pietta '60's three years ago, it's packed away someplace still new in the box in it's oil filled shipping bag. I don't remember were I put it. The price was too good to pass up at the time .neorebel wrote: I have a Traditions 1860 44 cal. I might try it for deer hunting in this years black powder season.

Lets see, Pietta .44, that could be 1847 Walker, 1851 Dragoon, 1851 " Navy" .44's, 1860 Army, 1858 Starr, 1858 Remington blued, stainless, or shorty, Remington carbine, LeMat,

Yep...
I do so hate the "waiting period" before my stuff gets here. One of the advantages of buying in person I guess. Sure glad I don't live in one of them Communist states that have a waiting period on firearms!

Can't wait to see what it is! I've been drooling over the 1858 remington design
Let me make a short, open, blanket comment. There are no good guns. There are no bad guns. Any gun in the hands of a bad man is a bad thing. Any gun in the hands of a descent person is no threat to anyone--- except bad people. -- Charleton Heston
