Nice follow up Jim. Just a reminder too. When adjusting the firing pin, you have to turn it in half turns or 180 degrees at a time.

I know, I figured people could figure out that by themselves when the bolt heads wouldn't slide on, after five takes I decided this take was good enough. In take two I dropped the bolt head and called it a mother******, it was another ten seconds of continuing the video before I realized what I said. Bill requested I clarify the use of the tool as I just gave a very basic explanation of it's use in the Bolt video. JYD productions INC will be billing Bill for the $276,000 production cost incurred in making the videoWeldonHunter wrote:Nice follow up Jim. Just a reminder too. LMAO!!! That is funny. The only reason I pointed that particular thing out is I've seen where guys tried to do small adjustments and the firing pin protrusion didn't change. It never dawned on them it has to be adjusted in half turns or it can go back to where it was. I figured it out aft...I mean they figured it out eventually......Junk Yard Dog wrote:I know, I figured people could figure out that by themselves when the bolt heads wouldn't slide on, after five takes I decided this take was good enough. I have never seen a Mosin pin that was so badly out of adjustment that it would be dangerous, not even on the Soviet refurbs, and I saw some shit on those. But with more people using commercial ammo now with softer primers it's a good idea to check and be sure the pin isn't set high.

Maybe a silly question, but what is the notch closest to the screwdriver tip for? Or does it have no other purpose than to allow use of the 75 measurement. Thanks!

It's just there to allow the tool to clear the rim of the bolt head.

Great video, much appreciated!
Re: HOW TO USE THE MOSIN BOLT TOOL & CHECK FIRING PIN PROTRU
Yes, great video. I never would have had a clue as to what the measurement notches were for until I watched this video. Thanks!

The sling runs around $9-$12, but the bolt tool shouldn't be more than a buck or so.
