Wow, that is absolutely perfect looking. You got a great looking rifle for your first one, and I am sure glad you posted it here, and your pictures are crystal clear.

We are definitely lucky on the prices here in the states. One gentleman I corresponded with said that the going rate for wartime refurbs in his area of Australia was $400 US.
Thanks for posting your rifle! A friend of mine has an Australian Martini .310 cadet rifle, you wouldn't have any of those to spare would you?

On Facebook? Check out the non-sporter preservationist group at: OOOPS. Deleted by Facebook because it's evil to even discuss collectible firearms on social media these days.

I have some nice Australian No1 MKIII* Enfields including a .22 trainer, excellent rifles.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

A BSA No1 MKII* Lithgow refurbished 1918 and Lithgow No1MkIII* 1942 have now landed in my collection, I'm very glad with how my modest collection has grown. Now consists of A Finned' M91, Soviet 91/30, 1939 K98, two SMLE's and a Romanian M44, and I love them all like my own children , not too bad for a bloke that only got his license recently, especially in Aus, huh? Not done eitherJunk Yard Dog wrote:I have some nice Australian No1 MKIII* Enfields including a .22 trainer, excellent rifles.

Actually, I think a hex Tula is a long more rare and collectable than my 1942 round receiver Izhevsk. I never get tired of checking out old Mosins in any condition. They're all classy. I especially like having the bayonets with the rifles. A while back one of my rifles arrived without a bayonet. I tried to ignore it but eventually bought one one Ebay just so every one of my Mosins would have its own bayonet. Crazy? Yes, but there just seemed to be something wrong with a bayonetless rifle.

Re: My Tula 91/30
I agree completely, unfortunately bayonets aren't cheap these days ($50+ for an M91 model), or else every single one of my rifles would have one One day I'll equip each of them with a bayo, but I have to save my cash for more rifles most importantly.A J wrote:Actually, I think a hex Tula is a long more rare and collectable than my 1942 round receiver Izhevsk.
