My first M39

My first M39

I picked up this M39 last week from a private seller. It's a 1944 VKT built on 1906 Izhevsk receiver and it's in real good shape, great bore and shoots great. It has a cool plum colored rear sight spring and the butt stock has the reinforcement inserts. The only drawback is that it's bolt, although it has a serial number stamped on the bolt handle knob and the blued ejector, doesn't match. I gave $200 for it and hope I didn't do too bad. I know the mis-match turns off a lot of buyers, but I don't see many M39s in the wild around her and wanted it for a shooter.

Nice, thats a great price for an M39! :thumbsup: I wouldnt worry too much about the mis-matching

So the serial doesn't match, big deal, it's still a great rifle, US rifles like the legendary M1903 don't have any serial numbers on the bolt, serials never helped a rifle shoot better. That's a fantastic price for any M39, very good deal :)
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
