I feel fortunate to have ran into that 91/30 Finn from what you all are saying.
Thanks for your replies.

I just noticed that the M39 has a thicker barrel. The muzzle protectors I have don't fit it.
Is this something to look for at a gun show to make it "complete"? Along with a shorter protector for the M44?
It's not like I'll ever use them anyway... or that I need a complete issue package. I'm more into the weapon itself.
My oil cans are different, too. One has the two openings on a V and the other one they both come straight out the top.

The finns have their own muzzle protectors and they are not as plentiful but can be found. If you look around on GB you may see one. :D :D

Thanks for the info, Desdem.
I wonder what the chances are that the LGS didn't know this and handed me the wrong kit? Maybe he's got one there that fits my Finn.

You are welcome :D As an added note the finns also have a little different cleaning kit. You can get one of those around also but not always complete. I have 2 of them but niether one had the finn tool. These come in a clothe bag. :D :D

You did very well with your first purchases. Congratulations, but I'm sorry to say you have a case of "Mosinitis" and there is no cure, only treatment (more Mosins)
Damn, I'll bet that's going to leave a mark! Probably hurt too!

The finns made a couple of different muzzle protectors for the M39.

Here's a link, scroll down towards the bottom of the page to see them: http://www.mosinnagant.net/finland/finn ... antm39.asp

I haven't heard of any surplus muzzle covers for M44s.

Edit: The cleaning kits that come with most Soviet M/Ns do come with muzzle protectors, but that's a little different than a muzzle cover.

When I got my Polish M44 from Big5 12 years ago they didn't give any accessories at all with the gun. It was only $69.99 for the gun. If you wanted accessories you had to buy the package deal gun with matching serial numbers and they came with all of the accessories that are included with most deals now. Those were about 50% more in cost too. I'd be willing to bet the serial numbers were force matched too. Earlier this year I bought a cleaning kit for mine and it came with a canvas pouch from here, https://www.libertytreecollectors.com/p ... ategory=41 . CL has some Finn stuff here but I don't see a Finn Cleaning rod muzzle protector but he may have some on another page.
