(MY RED RIDER BB GUN) A M27
I came across this in october at a pawn shop(no $ as usual). Every couple of weeks i would stop in to check if it was still there. After freeing up some cash
and getting a surprise bonus from work ,(my better half got half) i paid a visit to the pawn shop saw it was still there . Did the paperwork (wed 12/19)
they started calling, couldn't get thru lines busy . A got a call saturday 12-22 that they got thru and i could pick it up. It's a 1932 F & SA stamped no D. 1 pc
russian stock, winged bolt, 2 pc nose cap. Some pics.

What a great looking rifle, I really like the M27's especially the ones without the reinforcement upgrades, what a workhorse these rifles must have been.
Is the connector serialized and if so does it match the rifle?

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Not to sure what to look for (connector serialized). I can understand why the needed the reinforcement upgrades, there's not alot of lumber under the nose cap.bb91 wrote:What a great looking rifle, I really like the M27's especially the ones without the reinforcement upgrades, what a workhorse these rifles must have been.

nice find
Re: (MY RED RIDER BB GUN) A M27
Steve, I have several M27's with serialized bolt connectors (some not), with different variations, some have added numbers to the bolt flat and the connector is serialized to match the added number,( pretty sure this was done to keep the (winged?) connector together with the bolt on disassembly) then there are others that simply match the rifle bolt number and then there are a few that are numbered but not matching as the connectors were probably exchanged out with other winged connector bolts.Steve The Pirate wrote:Not to sure what to look for (connector serialized).bb91 wrote:What a great looking rifle, I really like the M27's especially the ones without the reinforcement upgrades, what a workhorse these rifles must have been.

Thanks bb91 for the pics and info. Nice looking m27. I checked the connector and there is a s/n 706 non matching. The 7 is poorly stamped. Some pics.

My M27 is just like yours, early. It is about 4500 numbers newer though.

I am glad you were able to get that one. That's really cool, I like the patina on the metal parts.

Re: (MY RED RIDER BB GUN) A M27
I have serial 48587 not too many a way from that one. Just to point out how close rifles can look very different. I will state a few aspects of it. Again a 1932 Tikka, bolt Finn matched, Mag scrubbed, butt plate new and replaced to rifle, SA and F marked on barrel badge plate, Crossed cannons and a B on stock, ski and bike front swivel, Popsicle front improved band, CAI import, Import assigned number on receiver 2059, it came with a sling with an ovel brass buckle, tang is marked Sestroryetsk 19X0 and is over stamped A3, and a civil guard # 41925. In the case of my rifle being there are signs of the Finns having worked on and refined things about the rifle. I would say the absense of the Finn D chamber markings point out they probably assumed by the time the improvement measures were done they didn't need the D designation and that the chamber has been worked on and is safe for firing modern milsurp ammo. Only 23 numbers away from your rifle and so different in many ways! Fascinating isn't it? Rifles leave the assembly point and go so many different ways and exist through so many different things! Congrats on finding a nice M27 and I will repeat my experience with M27's at the range has been Oh so good. I like firing them the best of all rifles I own! Bill

With a 1932 Soviet date the rifle would have been made from new to use modern cartridges.

Not all the time! It is a hit or miss process evidently from what I have found and others have noted too. Bill
