Latest acquisition with new C&R license
Latest acquisition with new C&R license
The brown truck of happiness delivered my third Mosin today, my first m44. It came from AIM Surplus here in Ohio. $189.95. It's the first gun I've bought using my new C&R license, which arrived about 10 days ago.
The bore is clean and shiny with strong rifling. Has not been counterbored.
Here are the stampings on each:
Something I didn't get with my previous Mosins, is an owners manual, in Russian. I think this is very cool. Here are some photos of it:
Haven't fired the M44 yet. Took it to the range right after unpacking and cleaning it, but the range was packed, so I'll wait until next week. Really looking forward to it. I love my full-size Mosin, but it's a hefty package. The carbine is lighter and easier to handle and feels great. I also like the foldable bayonet.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

OOOOOOooooooo! Nice M44! I ordered one too, from AIM and it is in transit to my FFL. I hope I do half as well as you and I will be berry happy! Love the fact that yours is stamped 1944 and was war issued. That is what really makes it for me and makes these old rifles so worthwhile. History, damn it. It's history.

So Molot is selling M44s now. Was the bayonet unattached like AIM's ad stated?
Re: Latest acquisition with new C&R license
I'm not sure how to take that either. I wonder if they have taken over a bunch of stuff and are working deals (???deals). Maybe all those "parts" headed for the burner went to molot burners?

Yes, the bayonet was unattached. By the way, if you get one that is unattached, you have to unscrew the screw in the bayonet's hinged base in order to mount it on gun. This was my first experience, and when I pulled out the screw, the hinged base flew apart. There's a big spring in there! It's easy to put back together -- once you find the spring and the housing that went flying!WeldonHunter wrote:So Molot is selling M44s now. Was the bayonet unattached like AIM's ad stated?
I was impressed by the ingenuity of these permanently mounted bayonets. The mechanism holds the bayonet very snugly, whether deployed or closed.

I think my license took 4-5 weeks.qz2026 wrote:Nice
I was thinking of one of the M-44's as well when my C&R comes. Yeah, yeah, yeah - ATF cashed my check the other day only after a week. Probably doesn't mean much but hopeful of receiving it shortly. I know, I'm too optimistic.
