They did better during the Crimean War, but Mexico was not a shining moment for the French Army, the Franco Prussian War would be even worse.

The French had one victory during the 19th century against the Russians in 1856, after that is was all downhill. They persevered and fought like hell against the Germans in WW1, but it was the AEF that pulled their asses out of the fire in the end, and lets not even get into what happened in 1940, and later on in the far east, and Africa.

An acquaintance is a member of an area PD. They had to bust down a door in an upstairs appartment and right after going inside a bullet came up through the floor. The sleeping neighbor downstairs was awakened to breaking glass and grabbed his cell to call 911 and a rifle at the same time. 911 recorded his accidental discharge through the ceiling with his mosin while they were talking to him. No one hurt. That was a couple years ago.

Must have been an M38. An M91/30 would have put 12" of bayonet through the floor at the same time of discharge.

Crazy. I would have been diving for the fridge. :beek:  Just the sound of it going off inside would be enough to scare me off :popgun:

Head for the cabinets, there are bullets flying around, there might be something stronger in the cabinets, you gonna need it :)

Jim, you are calling a refrigerator an icebox and assuming that there is cast iron cookware in the cabinets? You are dating yourself, Sir.

A hidden mason jar full of shine :) What's wrong with cast iron cookware, I like the way food tastes when I fry it in a cast iron pan :) Heats even also.

The ones I don't eat off of I use to cook lead for bullet casting :) You have to get the good old US made pots, not the cheap crap made in china.

I was thinking of the Arnold movie when they duck behind the fridge to get away from the new technology rounds. Eraser or something like that? :popgun:
