Makarov P64
I have been looking for a carry pistol and have a chance at a Makarov P64 for $200. Could someone tell me if this is an acceptable price? I have also heard the pistol has a bad muzzle flip and would like to confirm if that is true. I quess I could request to shoot it for evaluation first. I know the dealer and he has a small range behind the shop so that would be possible. Any and all pros and cons are appreciated.

$200.00 is probably a fair price for a Makarov. I don't have any problem shooting the Mak, in fact I enjoy it and can shoot it fairly well. The biggest problem, as far as I am concerned, with these type pistols is the magazine release. I have to use all three hands to swap mags.

$200 for P64 is a bit high maybe. Of course prices have gone up. They are not too bad for carry as i carry one. It has a pretty good kick to it. If you were to buy one on line though by the time you paid shiping and such it may add up to $200. I am sure it is fairly close.

I am not sure i would call it a muzzle flip, so much as a kind of twisting kick. It does take a little getting used to as far as the hand goes. It is better then a 380 i would say.

I checked Impactguns and gunbroker and prices are $189 to $219. Only one was priced a $189. He is including two mags and the holster. I noticed it had the european mag release which I am not very fond of. I can wait until he has some CZ 82's in.

Ya they have went up then. Of course i bought one about 2 or 3 years ago. I don't have a cz 82 but i would like to have one. I do use the p64 for carry and shoot it every now and then but i like to shoot the cz52s or the M57 way better. If i could have had a choice back when i bought the p 64 i would have got the cz 82. I still use the p64 as a carry though.

I have one and carry the pistol quite frequently. I stil need to put a Wolfe spring kit in it to take care of the double action trigger other wise well worth the price.

Thought I would let you guys know I passed on the P64 and have decided on either a PA 63 or CZ 82. More I thought about it I just didn't like the European mag release. Thanks for all your help. I'll post some pics of what I get once I win the Gunbroker bid or find one locally.
