My first ex-sniper 1943 tula
Not to sure what to make of this one. It is a 1943 Tula sniper barrel with a star on the tang with no date visible.
The muzzle crown is blued and counter-bored.
The barrel and the reciver apear to be the only thing Tula on this rifle.
The trigger assembly, magazine, floor plate, cleaning rod, bolt, rear sight, barrel bands and barrel band retention springs are all Izhevsk.
How common is this match up???
Plus there is a small weld bead on the bottom of the rear sight elevation adjuster.

That's common. Some tangs have dates and some don't. All rifles that is. The barrel was removed from sniper duty and the receiver might be what it was originally mated to and might not. The fact that it's counter bored night be in part why it was removed from sniper duty. The weld under rear sight might be another clue. It might have been shooting low as well as having a worn muzzle. Who knows. The parts being mixed is also common because the rifle went through the refurb process which resulted in a mix of parts made at different arsenals. Once these rifles were sent for refurb the rifles were disassembled, like parts were put in bins together. The parts were then inspected and repaired seperately assuring a mix of parts on reassembly.

Know i have not shot this rifle yet as i am still cleaning the barrel to my standards. the trigger is to die for. 100% no slop even with the bolt charged and rounds cycle very smoothly {unfired}. along with the bolt action being great. also the trigger pull is only like 1/2 inch before brake. This is amazing compared to my other 5 mosins. They all have slop and extra long pulls.
i will also be posting my Hungaian m44 soon as well.

Tula was known for lightly struck markings, and sometimes leaving stuff off.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
