When I managed the transmission shop in Prescott I was required to have a gun at work. All the employees brought them in for show and tell and we always had customers trade them for work. We had a table in the garage that was devoted to firearm repair. One evening after closing I was completing a repair on a Romanian SAR 1 (AK) and was running the bolt bolt back and forth, I had the main garage door open and a couple came in some California transplants to check on a Corvette we were working on, saw the main door open so stopped by even though we were closed so I look over and they are standing kind of stunned watching me. I'm, okay Hi oh you want to check on the Vette then I realize they are not use to guy holding an AK and I said cars, rifles hey we fix it all and they just laughed, welcome to Prescott. The owner of the shop was great on a Friday after noon he would send me down to J@G on an ammo run I'd haul back 4 crates of Turk 8mm he'ed open one and just hand me 4 or 5 bandoleers for the trouble, on some afternoons we would just go hit the local shops and check out the inventory, It was sad when that job ended. The early part of the last decade the end of the last happy time. So anyway's in AZ we have a law that if your legally allowed possession of a firearm your company can't restrict you from bringing on their property inside a vehicle, your car is an extension of your home, unless on Federal property of course then the state law is not applicable.

:D :D :D In the UCCSR (United California Counties Socialist Republic) you cannot even have a rifle in your car in the company parking lot! ...:D :D :D
So if you get a rifle after 10 days waiting , you have to secure the empty gun at the trigger with either a lock or a steel rail lock-up through the open receiver and the magazine opening. And drive it home asap! Because it cannot be in your car , when you ar at wotk!

I work on a US Air Force base. Carrying civilian weapons and/or ammunition on the job or anywhere else on base is strictly forbidden. All vehicles entering the base are subject to search. Several of my co-workers have concealed carry permits in Mississippi and complain that they should be allowed to carry concealed on base. The Air Force doesn't see it that way when you are on Federal property. Things have become much more strict since 9/11/2001 and especially since the shootings at Fort Hood, Texas. In the past year my vehicle has been searched twice. Sometimes I carry some rifle targets and other range stuff in my truck, but I am very careful not to have a weapon or ammo. When they see anything that is weapon-related they start digging deeper and you just get delayed longer. I make sure my vehicle is totally clean now when I make my Saturday range trips; no shell casings, empty ammo boxes, targets -- I pull it all out of the truck. That way, I won't have any issues when I return to work on Monday.

I keep a full gun cabinet at work-rifles, pistols, and a shotgun. We go shooting at least once a month at lunchtime. We like to call it, "Lead Lunch" :bwink:

Desertgunner, I can drive down the highway with my loaded Kalashnikov on my lap and talk away on my cell phone if I want to. California a few weeks ago banned the carry of rifles in public, I lived in SD for 17 years and loved the place but don't think I could ever move back.

Although our state allows handguns in your car on company property, my company doesn't feel that way. A weapon including a knife with blade over 4" could and would get you fired. They state that they can search our property, but then I don't think that's happening, as a matter of fact I guarantee it!

That's where our state legislature stepped in a few years ago to put a top to that. A lot of companies had rules against firearms on company property, so technically a firearm in a vehicle in a company parking lot could get someone dismissed, not any more firearms can be stowed in a personal vehicle if the owner is legal. Now I have co workers with company cars and that is a sore point, the car belongs to the company, no firearms.

I think I like Arizona a little bit more after reading this. Oregon is pretty nice too.

Even makes New York gun laws sound better, not good, but not as bad as out there :beek:

Having worked more than a few years in a Gun Shop and Pawn Shop I can heartily advise you this is a far worse situation than owning a C&R License! You not only get first shot but you know what the shop has in it! I never made any money working either place it was just how much money did I owe the shop at the end of the work week!!!! Like being a prisoner in your passion or something? Bill :)
