Is that Tommy Lee Jones in the lower left corner? I'm surprised Nickolas Cage didn't sneak in there.

I was about 2 or 3 years old when this picture was taken but as they say, people age fast during wars. :shifty: :)

I liked the one with the manual too.

He is looking at that manual as if he is trying to figure out how to read it, no pictures I guess :)
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

That is close but Родина-мать зовёт! = The Motherland Calls!

The Germans spoke of the Fatherland but the Russians spoke of the Motherland. I wonder why.

The captiion where I got the picture is:
Запись добровольцев 1941 г.
Место съемки: Ленинград

TSHTF soon after this picture was taken.

Wow, I was off by a few decades. I was thinking WW1. It makes sense now though. The rifle looked familiar, now I know why. I own that rifle! Yeah, that's it! :D :D :D

Fatherland=Motherland=Rodina....Your country is calling you, was that the slogan on our Uncle Sam poster, where he points the finger..tried to find it, but no.....
I think the feminine aspect goes way back to the times before Christianisation, like elsewhere the pagans had Mother Earth as main Goddess....
