found the crate info in backbone of the wehrmacht. crate is only 3" shorter and 2' narrower than a mc crate ,but only holds 10 rifles.

OK, I got my crate sitting smack in the middle of my living room on the couch, it's been there for months and I have no plans to move it right away    I got gun parts on the kitchen table, ammo stacked in the closets, and 100 DVD all about war, or with cool shit blowing up in them stacked next to the TV like the leaning tower of Pizza. :chuckles: Oh yea, I got Hoppes 9 and gun oil under the sink.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Better not wait too long now that the world has seen this :) Aim is still selling Mosins so they must have crates around. I used to love getting the Czech ammo boxes, they had nice hinged lids, great for storing tools and such.

I don't have a crate, but I got a Hot Lips Army Nurse in my pink house? Is that worth anything?

Do these crates have useful information stenciled on them the way the ammo crates & spam cans do? Would the tell us were the rifles were overhauled and when? Anything about the specific content such as condition or age of the rifles?

Mine have, TO - 2- X - 81 stenciled on them. No worries about me getting married unless she buys me a gun shop and lives somewhere else.

Great idea to replace the top piece with glass for a table. It still doubles as a proper rifle case to. Easily accessible if someone tries to get in your house as well. How much do empty crates go for? I may have to invest in one once I move into my new place.

I wonder what that info might mean. Could the rifles have been refurbed as recently as 1981? Do we know for sure that they rifles currently coming out of the Ukraine were actually refurbed there? I would think that before the Collapse & separation of the former Soviet Union they could have been done anywhere and transported to widely dispersed places awaiting that long feared invasion . . .

Gee Longcolt, I guess you are destined to remain a free man. Me too.

:? :? :? mrb7, man, what are you doing to us???? :? :? :?
Pink house, why not? Just a color, or? :chuckles: :chuckles: :chuckles: :chuckles: :chuckles:
Now then, hot lips army nurse (female?) indicates a certain preference of yours, right? Don't feel bad about it, we are already drooling enough to fill a cow water tank. :Drool1: :Drool1: :Drool1: :Drool1: :Drool1: :chuckles: :chuckles: :chuckles: :chuckles:
If you think that post of yours was fair, then I'll email you a website link where YOU WILL DROOL, too. And it is not Hustler porn.....

So , just post some gun-related photos of your nurse, in a pink slip or less to prove your point. But with the pink house as backdrop, please. Man, ink the Pink.....   did I write that?

Yeah. Her name is Monica. But she won't let me keep guns parts laying around in the kitchen or the front room.

OTOH, she does agree that any gun around the house ought to be A) not readily visible to company but accessible, and B) loaded. What the hell good is an unloaded gun? That's just an expensive rock. at least the hand guns. I don't keep the rifles loaded.

We have no small kids, so that's not an issue for us.

(Gotta confess, though. That's Lt. Monica 35 years ago. We're not as young as we used to be. But I still carry her picture!)

I don't now but my wife bought a house with pink weeping mortar brick walls and pink/white awnings back in 1975. It was not my favorite color but she got it real cheap. We lived in it until we moved to Idaho Falls in 1980. We would have liked to have a rifle crate coffee table then - we were using an orange crate. We more than doubled our investment when we sold the house so it was worth tolerating that pink for a while.

I looked at the house this morning using google earth and see that those darn pink/white awnings are still on it, but can't tell for sure about the walls.
