Rifle Contest, Showcase Consideration, 1928 Tula ex-Dragoon
Rifle Contest, Showcase Consideration, 1928 Tula ex-Dragoon
Here's my feeble attempt at a submission for potential inclusion in the showcase for the Rifle Contest. I only have eight Mosin Nagant rifles; all are arsenal refurbs, but this one is the nicest.
Stats:
1. Receiver: 1928 Tula ex-Dragoon; all matching numbers
2. Stock: Wartime, shellac with tigerstripe (this is not a laminate) and an interesting repair on butt
3. Bore: Excellent
4. Importer: ATI
5. Remarks: Arsenal Refurb; Izhevsk parts in the bolt
Well, whether it makes it or not, I love it. I have just been unable to bring myself to shoot it since purchase. This one I am keeping as is, since I have two or three other shooters. Even if it doesn' make it, enjoy the pics.

Funny, my favorite refurb is my 1928 updated dragoon too. Mine is an Izhevsk though.

Very nice. Your right, it is not a laminate but what you have is what is called, "crosscut", which shows off the grain well too.

There's absolutely no reason to be ashamed of that rifle. It looks great!!
My very first Mosin was a '28 updated Dragoon and it will always hold a very special place in my collection.
Congrats and thanks for sharing

Hey tjtM38,
That is one fine Ex-Dragoon if you ask me. I vote yes for the Showcase... That stock really sets this one apart.
One consideration for you & everyone else... If your pictures are large & you want to submit a rifle I can help in cropping & resize if you would like. Helps them load quicker, takes up less forum space & looks good at a quick glance.
Below is an example.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Let me make a short, open, blanket comment. There are no good guns. There are no bad guns. Any gun in the hands of a bad man is a bad thing. Any gun in the hands of a descent person is no threat to anyone--- except bad people. -- Charleton Heston

1937 Izhevsk

1939 Tula (laminate stock)
And many other firearms
