Yep. Another Yard Sale - Nylon 66

Post by martin08 »

Yard sales have been very, very good to me.

Remington Nylon-66 in .22lr, fourteen plus one tube fed magazine, Mohawk Brown, Redfield aperture sight was added. With the DF code and no serial number, it places it in the first year production in September, 1959.

The gun is in 97% finish condition. Dang near new.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Those are really nice rifles. We bought two of them from two different parties earlier this year. They didn't last long. we had a brown one like yours and a black one. If I remember right they made these in 4 different colors, I can't remember the other two colors. You did very good....as usual.

That was quite a find. At gun shows they are asking 350-400 bucks in my area. Not bad for a rifle that was originally under 50.00! I don't remember 4 colors, but I am familiar with the black, Mohawk brown, and Seneca green. They also had other models that were bolt action magazine fed, and bolt action single shot, and they even made a lever action. I once followed a Gunbroker auction a few years ago on a new in the box mint Gallery Special in 22 short that went for a couple thousand bucks! They are tremendous fun at the range. I think this was the first 22 that my son shot, or it may have been the Ruger 10/22.

Here are some pics of the Redfield aperture sight and tall front blade. It doesn't even leave a mark on the dovetail.

Around here that would be a $400 rifle. Very nice. I think they made them in green as well.

Edit: I found a pic of the 4 styles.

I have never seen that type of aperture sight, but it really looks like a high quality sight. I think the only thing missing on your rifle Matt is the original box and receipt. It sure looks NIB! I just had to look it over again. I have never seen anyone have so much yard sale action as you, but a friend at work found his Savage model 10 Police. 308 rifle at a garage sale for 500.00.
