I present to the showcase my Finnish M91rv Cavalry Rifle. This is a unique piece that started its life as a 1913 Izhevsk Dragoon and ended up in the hands of the Finnish cavalry.
The M91rv is the predecessor to the M27rv , both of which have a sling arrangement that allows the rifle to be carried on horseback. Prior to the Finns producing their own rifles for the cavalry, they would simply take captured or purchased Dragoon rifles and make two simple modifications .
The would modify the buttstock with a german-like cutout.
And another sling attachment was added to the forend of the stock.
These were the only differences between the rifles modified for cavalry use and a standard Dragoon, and is what makes this rifle a M91rv.
This particular rifle appears to be all original with the exception of the bolt and the fact that It is missing it's stock disk. There are no import marks to be found . Here are a few more photos.
