Re: Santa (Son) was very, very good to me.

Thank you, Mike. Some quick questions before I post it. Do the serial numbers match and where are they? The serial matches on butt, barrel and cyl. face Do the assembly numbers match? I see two, one on the crane and one on the frame, and yes, they match. The one on the frame, by the crane is follow...

Re: Santa (Son) was very, very good to me.

I suspect that it is a commercial piece; which is fine; it is a great addition to my Smith hoard.

Santa (Son) was very, very good to me.

Regular Santa left my regular coal. But, found, under the tree from my son was a gorgeous, Smith model 1917 revolver. The serial shows 1918 production, but the piece appears to be a commercial model. Checkered Grips, and no US property markings. I have a question though, on the frame at the crane is...

If you ever wondered why people put up with Florida heat

This morning, up against the Georgia border, it is short sleeve weather, the grass is still green (but not growing; the best of both worlds) The sun is shining and it is just a glorious day. The roses and camilias do not know it is Christmas.

My S&Ws

I never intended to collect S&Ws or revolvers. Over time these Smiths fell into my lap. I have enjoyed all of them. Hey! Hey! I got enough band witdth to post a photo today! (after reducing the pixel count by about half) The one that I shoot the best is the 65-2 (L. second from top) The previous...

Re: Need professional opinion on Value of mosin

I haven't been in the market for some time, but I would expect that a mismatched Chinese T-53 would go for around $300.00 now days. Someone else may have better knowledge. That can fluctuate based on the day of the week and the area that you are located.

Re: Any S&W revolver gurus in here?

The round butt may change the math some, I am not sure. Apparently they did not make a lot of 5" round butt pieces.

Re: Any S&W revolver gurus in here?

I have got a value question. Someone hinted that one of the S&W revolvers that I own might be a bit collectible. I am not a member of the S&W forum and don't want to waste their time joining for one question. Here are the details to the best of my knowledge: Model 1905, 4th change, with a s...

Re: Not a beast, but a Savage

That is a really nice looking pistol. I like it a lot. If it were in a larger cal. I'd like it better. Darryl Well, D, you can get one in .380 or .45 ACP, but the .45 costs in the tens of thousands of dollars. I think that the .380 is a nine shot and the .45 is an 8 shot, but I am not certain. I wa...

A date which will live in infamy

"Yesterday, December 7, 1941—a date which will live in infamy—the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan. The United States was at peace with that Nation and, at the solicitation of Japan, was still in conversation with it...

Not a beast, but a Savage

Poking around gun and pawns yesterday and today, I found this very nice Savage 1917 (An updated 1907) in just outstanding condition, inside and out. It must have been in a sock drawer for the last 103 years. It is a ten shot .32 ACP, patented in 1905, and this piece was made in 1920. (Back when Jim ...

Mike, when is the surgery?

The good thing is that now the operations are highly successful in restoring full function to the heart.

Let us know when he is back in recovery. Prayers are out and fingers are crossed.
