Re: Tropical storm?
A followup to the story about the pawn shop where I had the consignments. I was able to pick up the pieces, undamaged from the owner. The guns were in the only corner of the building with a little roof left. The building was so badly damaged they tore what was left down. He set up in a temporary loc...

Thanks for the work. Had you not mentioned that you changed, I would not have noticed, and that sounds like a job well done.

Ffuries, (Mike) are you out there?
Has anyone heard from Mike? I am getting a little worried about him.

Re: Early flat latch Smith and Wesson model 34
I think that I have seen an uptick in general interest in vintage revolvers lately. Ten years ago, they were really inexpensive in pawn and gun shops everwhere. Back then I became interested in older top-breaks. I have since given or traded all of my topbreaks to my son. I still like my swing-out cy...

I drooled over that list of rifles many weeks and succumbed to my lust on many occassions.

Re: Thought I had a few thousand .309 but they're .312
A few years ago, Covid time, I picked up a 2500 IMI FMJ BT Match bullets for my .308 - Didn't even have a .308 at the time but it was part of a large reloading lot at an estate sale and I wanted the primers, powder, and especially the linotype pigs !! Two still sealed 1000 round bags and one half u...

At this point, I am happy with hand stitching. It really slows down the process, but I am in no hurry.

Every 1911 needs a good home
Or at least some kind of home. Here are some of my latest home-building attempts. These are my designs, obviously a variation of a theme of one piece holsters. I am having a ball learning a new skill.

Re: Tropical storm?
We got the worst of it at sunrise this morning. It knocked out power for 12 hours, it was nasty, but no damage here. It did some nasty work in Marianna right next door to the gun shop I have some consignments in. What do you have on consignment Steve.....? Well, as it turned out, it was not only ne...

Firearm repair question
I have a nice, older, Winchester Win Lite shotgun. (model 59) The barrel is thin steel wrapped with fiberglass. This model has replacable chokes. I have alternative chokes but I will be damned if I can get the one that has probably been on it for decades off. I am leary of soaking it in PB blaster b...

I don't know if it is two months late or six months early. All the schools are closed tomorrow expecting high winds and heavy rains. Very odd in Jan.
Hang tight over there, Mike.

Re: Santa (Son) was very, very good to me.
Thank you for all of your help, Mike. The depth of the stamping, on the butt, renders it hard to believe that enough material was removed to polish out the piece without leaving any signs. However, I will defer to the people who know. I do believe that the piece has been reblued, so perhaps that was...

Re: Santa (Son) was very, very good to me.
Here are the photos of the piece as we discussed earlier. I am reasonably sure that it is a reblue, but the rest of its history is unknown to me. The military inspection marks lead me to believe that it was made from leftover WWI parts. (That rust was not visible to my naked eye; it has been properl...

Before and after knife
I really like the PAL RH-36 knives, and will rescue one if I can. I bought this one cheap for obvious reasons. The sheath is also new made. As bad as the leather was on this one, the original spacers crumbled when I tried to reuse them so I used what I could find.

Re: Well boys, it is New Years Eve again
Well, crap, an old friend just called me to tell me that another friend was found about three days dead in his home. Danny was one of the brigtest, and most clever people I have ever known. He could do anything and do it well. He was always good for a laugh. The man found it easy to make money, and ...
