Re: Unknown mark on barrel shank of Tula m91/30
Since it has been refurbed and is a prewar dated mosin most likely it has been force matched.

Re: Bore scope of my new old m44L
Have you fired it yet? Take it out and shoot it both with the bayonet extended and folded. Try different types of ammo too, have fun with it. It may do better than you think.

Re: Bore scope of my new old m44L
Looks like a standard m44 to me? As far as what's called the M44L goes, (I forget the Soviet designation) last I knew there were only 2 or 3 known in the US.

Definitely a sear spring issue. And make sure the trigger pin doesn't get lost while you have it apart.

Re: Rerun of an old friend
Definitely took a trip through Tula. They used an N before the serial number then, Izhevsk didn't. Looks like the serial number itself is in the font used at Tula also. Maybe a barrelled receiver made at Izhevsk and finished at Tula. Kinda the opposite of 41 "Tula" 91/30s.

Re: Mosin Nagant eject issue - Possibly due to poor modification
Pretty much junk. When someone "re-snipered" it they went deeper than the original holes the soviets had drilled and ruined it. Totally unsafe now. Hope you can get your money back.

I need to check but I don't think 1899 was a very high production year for Sestroryetsk.

Here is a photo I had taken trying to see the US acceptance stamps on the Westinghouse I had mentioned. You can see the defaced lettering though also.

Re: Can someone help?! Like to know value of M-38
If it's indeed a 1940 Tula M38 it is very very uncommon. Like less than 5 known. What's the barrel length? Most likely it is a longer 91/30.

Re: Mystery Remington 91
There is a New England Westinghouse m91 sporterized rifle in a local shop here with those words stamped out exactly as you described. I've personally seen one other like that, a Remington like yours. Odd looking when you see it.

Puerto Rican Glock 23
I recently picked up one of the recent batch of Puerto Rican police trade-in Glocks, this one a model 23 in 40 S&W. Most of these trade-ins seem to have been the larger model 22s, the 23s may have been used by detectives or plainclothes officers. This one is a good companion to the Beretta m96 t...

Re: No further importation of surplus ammo to the U.S.?
The ban applies to a heck of a lot more ammo than just surplus. A really big percentage of new ammo of many different calibers in the US is Russian made and now banned.

"New" old racecar hits the track
My son and I put together a 36 Ford coupe bodied dirt modified racer to dabble in a local vintage racing series. Made it out Sunday. Had a blast. Finished on the lead lap and in one piece, not bad for never driving one of these before. We built it to resemble as much as we could my late grandfather'...

43 is a good year for mosin collectors. Good variety out there produced that year.
