Re: Molot... Good or ?
I am thinking that some of these rifles might be from police arsenals. Jim, I could very well believe that as well. Makes sense. I would venture to add that some may also be coming from training organizations. The current crop of 91/30's being fairly rough over all could have been from something li...

And I thought I would never see the day when the Mosin collecting community would divide itself over the import of more Mosins. Mystery background or not!cjsimoh wrote:And here I thought this post was a simple question.

Re: Molot... Good or ?
I am all for asking questions and peicing together the history on milsurp rifles. In the case of the Molots, I think some of us here are ready to throw the Molots out with the bath water so to speak. Each rifle needs to be checked out on its own merits. Personally I like the refurb rifles, Ukraine, ...

Re: Anyone Get A MOLOT from AIM?
Or the dealers could be selling them off on eBay for a little extra profit. I think that is more plausable. Locally Big R has not had a Mosin since I bought the 91/30 sniper they had. Big 5 has one on the shelf (42 Izhevsk) for 179.99, but it do have the accessories. If I go down south to see the e...

Re: Anyone Get A MOLOT from AIM?
I know that the M44's that people were getting from Classic and AIM were all Molot's. The M38's that Classic offered about 5 months ago were also Molot's. As for 91/30's, I don't think that either AIM or Classic has those...yet. In the past couple of weeks I have seen with my own eyes Molot non sni...

Re: Older sytle stocks on 91/30
For me it would depend on the clarity and strike of the original Tula or Izhevsk cartouche. Those early C.C.C.P. Izshevsk cartouches are neat. And since they are mostly sanded away or very faded, I would put a small premium on a clearly struck example.

Re: Soon to be new Molot 91/30 PU snipr owner
I do not disagree with you Jim. The thing is it looks as if Molot is getting a bad rap, and all the facts are not yet in as previously mentioned. From what I have seen of the 91/30 PU's, M38's, M44's and now the few 91/30's showing up, they appear legitimate, if still of unknown storge origin. Molot...

Re: Soon to be new Molot 91/30 PU snipr owner
This Molot issue is becoming devisive. I would appreciate the experts going to the thread on my Molot PU sniper and please, point out the "repo" parts. If more and detailed pics are required, I will be happpy to take and post them. I find it rather hard to swallow that a company in the Rus...

Thanks for the confirmation on the scope Gents! I have been learning alot on the sniper stuff over the last two years, but it is a tricky collectable arena.

Re: Molot 91/30s at Cabelas...
I don't get it. Many times it has been mentioned (wished, dreamed?) that Russia proper, would unload what we know must be huge quanities of Mosin rifles in storage. And now this company MOLOT has the ability to start doing so and because they have to add some markings (for whatever requirements the ...

PU scope aquisition
Well I picked this little gem up the other day. Figure I would use the scope on my Molot instead of the original so as to keep wear and tear off the one that matches the rifle. I am 99% certain that this one is a refurbed WWII era scope with a post war steel Izhevsk mount and post war scope cover. H...

Re: Calling all fisherman!
For bait casting take a look at Shimano's open faced mid priced reels. I far prefer open faced reels for casting, then enclosed reels. Anything gets tangled, its a far easier fix. For line I like spider wire, its tensil strength is far above its line size and is a little added insurance for unexpecte...

Re: Calling all fisherman!
You really can not go wrong with an Ugly Stick. For the money its a very durable rod should something big come along. As for reals I have been using a couple of Shimano reels now for over twenty years and they have held up well from blue gill to large pike and muskie. I absolutely can not reccomend ...
