Re: 1938 Tula refurb.
They didn't parkerize things, we did that with our stuff. Thats just crappy Soviet " bluing" typical of many post WW2 refurbs. These were refurbished at many different facilities over 40 years so styles of blue and stock colors will vary. Mosin bolts rattle, that's normal, and why they res...

Re: Romanian AK Magazine Kit
Ammo also, I could make five times what I paid if I sold what I bought 10-30 years ago. Guns also, I was buying 91/30's at $55 or less for a bit there when they were plentiful and everywhere. I understand carbine prices are climbing even more rapidly. I showed someone a picture of my M1 carbine coll...

Re: Romanian AK Magazine Kit
I remember when the East German mags came out, they were very nicely made and around five bucks each or less. Cheaper if you bought them in large amounts. The Chinese ones were crude looking, but they worked. I don't think I came across any Romanian mags back in the early 90's when I was playing wit...

Re: Hungarian 48M Scope Questions
Do you mean the Hungarian M52 pu sniper? The M.48 was the Hungarian copy of the Soviet M44 carbine. Yes, my M52 has the entire mount assembly 02 marked, and the scope is dated 1954 with "41" mark indicating Hungarian manufacture. The rifle was captured in Vietnam. The Hungarian made mount ...

Re: My M91/30
A permit to buy a deactivated rifle? Actually you would need paperwork to buy that here also due to the fact that the government considers the receiver to be the firearm. By the sound of things all you need do to reactivate that rifle is swap in another bolt and barrel. Mosin parts are common, if th...

I would have the same worry, and would use it with the choke in it, or hang it up.

Re: Remington 1918 Spanish civil war?
Thanks do you think I should buy it too? Think they wanted $550 for it That seems to be average these days for 91/30's. If it has no import markings at all on it then likely it's worth having as such is rare among Mosins as the bulk came in post 1968 . Post 1988 for that matter. Buy it if it speaks...

Re: My Jaws film prop collection
Very nice collection, I remember seeing that movie at the local theater back in '75 I think it was. I can still see that damn severed human head popping out from the smashed boat. You just didn't see stuff like that in the movies back then, for that sort of graphic violence you had to watch the nigh...

Re: Antique fishing tackle
I don't, but I do have a 1920's bamboo rod stashed away that belonged to a neighbor. Nickel plated brass hardware, no idea who made the reel, it's buried deep in a closet someplace.

Re: My M91/30
Looks like it's original, what country was exporting 91/30 Mosins to West Germany in 1976? Soviet block countries still had these in their arsenals as reserve weapons in the mid 70's. We would not see these here in the states until after the wall came down in '89. Possibly Spain? Spanish Civil War S...

No problem, Remington receivers as well as any other type Mosin receiver can turn up on a Finn built rifle.

Re: Remington 1918 Spanish civil war?
That made in USSR stamp is characteristic of the Spanish civil war rifles . Nice Remington, the Tula 91/30 could be another SCW import that just didn't get that USSR stamp, highly likely if there was no other import mark on it.

Re: M38 Manufactured in 1939 Value
I have not monitored any sales of these for some time now, this year is not common. M38's of any year are sought after, and not nearly as common as the 91/30. I would guess it's over $1000 by now, the 1939 was expensive even when I bought mine 17 years ago. I would wait and watch gunbroker to see if...

All part of living in the tropical paradise of perpetual warm, or so I am told. We got a few inches of snow, and a bit of cold, not enough to carry the house off. What does one use to get a dog stoned? Heroin?

Health wise you were a regular shit magnet last year, lets hope for improvement in 2024. Of course given the national and world situation everything else will go to shit, but hopefully you will be healthy and pain free enough to be able to watch it all happen. It's hard to put the brakes on, somethi...

The stock refinishing part would put a nice dent in the rifles resale value had it been the real thing as collectors tend to frown on that.

I like that 1930. Am I to understand from the web page that this company sells you a weapon and then personally delivers it to your home no matter where you are in the country?
