Re: Vermont has ammo!!!

Oh how I long for the days when ammo was an afterthought. NY stinks on toast, but this 22lr situation makes no sense to me.

Vermont has ammo!!!

I attended my brother's wedding this weekend in Rutland, Vermont. While there I stopped at a Dick's sporting goods near our hotel room and they had tons of every caliber except 22lr. I told the guy that it was awesome to see full shelves again and he said, "Oh you must be from NY." They ha...

Re: I think the value of Mosins are going to take off.......

The prices have come way down since the spike in the early part of the year. They are available for under $130 at least two places online right now and the supply is holding just fine. I don't see another run on them anytime soon, as there was such a mad dash in the winter/spring. I was actually thi...

Re: Range trip and ammo question

On a side mote I finally got my wife to shoot one of the Mosins :vcool:. She only took 3 shots, but it's a start. This year has been a real breakthrough for her. She has shot every rifle and handgun I own except for the M44 and T53s. There may be hope for her yet

Re: Range trip and ammo question

I went back to the range yesterday with a couple boxes of brass cases prvi partizan ammo for the mosins. I was pretty pleased. Either my eyes improved or this ammo is more accurate. I cut my grouping in half :big shock:. I got it down to 4-5'' groups. Don't know if that qualifies as good, but it's g...

Yup there is nothing more damaging to your shoulder than a 22 without a brake :chuckles: :chuckles: :chuckles:

Re: T53 U Fix um

I bought two and had no problems. Good bore and rifling, both were pretty well complete, minus cleaning rods which almost seems to be the norm. Replaced one stock as it had a small crack but that was just me, it would have been fine to keep shooting it as it was. I swapped one for 160 rounds of Gol...

Re: M1 Garand in NY. This is confusing.

As far as I can tell no personal info is seen or entered. They just need to hit the id shown button. I have never had anyone ask me to take it out or even actually look at it. They just peek for a split second to see that I have a permit and then sell me the ammo. It still sucks though.

Re: Muzzle Break, good idea or Bubba-fied?

The muzzle break probably cost more than the rifle. I don't get why folks want to pay tons of extra to ruin a rifle that only cost them $100-150 to start. I ran into one of these idiots at my hunting safety class a few weeks back. I told him I had Mosin Nagants and he proceeded to tell me about his ...

Re: M1 Garand in NY. This is confusing.

I agree about the handgun ammo, but I have never had to do more than flash my permit. Never had to take it out so the clerk could look at it. As for the state I think that's exactly what they are doing. Our system is broken with no quick fixes in site

WTF is that mess all about? Why would you want to put one of those on a vintage war rifle? Insanity.....Insanity I tell you

Re: M1 Garand in NY. This is confusing.

That ammo law is why I stocked up massively in previous years, I am not showing ID, or signing anything for buying ammo. If my gray hair, and wrinkles aren't enough to show I am well over 21 then %#$@ them! I was at Walmart yesterday picking up my daily ammo purchase and they now have a special reg...

Range trip and ammo question

I took my new hunting rifle to the range yesterday and shot 2-3'' groups so I am comfortable hunting with that. I had trouble maintaining anything decent groups with my 1943 Izhevsk that I was planning to use for bear hunting though. I was shooting 8-10" groups. I know I can't expect the same a...
