Re: Bayonet doesn't fit
A bayonet is a device which when attached to a rifle can be used to impale dumb ass drill instructors.celt1314 wrote:What is a "BAYONET"?
Otherwise useful to open c-rat cans.

Re: Russian 40s Surplus 7.62x54R on Strippers $125.00/600+$2
Fred, it looks to me like your 47 case has a bit rounder curves at the break points (main body to shoulder and shoulder to neck). That causes the neck to look a bit longer on the 70s case. However the over all case lengths look the same. I would think if this were to cause a problem, it would be har...

Re: Surplus Nagant ammo
I did not know they were corrosive,is it just the primer? Yes it's the primer, Berdan, just like surplus 7.62x54R. There are non-corrosive Berdan primers and there was a time when Boxer primers were corrosive. You have to know the information on the particular ammunition to know if it is corrosive ...

Re: How to make the bolt smoother?
Sixty eight years of surplus ammo thru my M44. Speaking of 80 year old carbs I wonder if I could soak my bolt in the same gallon of new Gunk Carb Medic Carb Parts Cleaner.I have used it for years on metal parts with good results but never on metal gun bolts. What does JYD think? The bolt is not tha...

Also make sure that there is no gunk in the extractor relief cut - the cut runs from about 1 to 5 oclock on the face of the chamber.

Re: What is he shooting?
Jim, I bet that it will still be going on 50 or 60 years from now. I remember our fighter bomber squadron was on alert to be deployed to Lebanon in 1958, but we stood down, I guess it was decided not to nuke them.

Re: What is he shooting?
Rob, no - the possible mount I see is where the rear sight should be. This does not look like the rear sight on my M44:

Re: What is he shooting?
Rob, when I blow that picture way up, it does appear to have a scope mount. Maybe the scope is in that game vest. It looks to me like they outfit from a sporting goods store rather than a military scource. I have seen lots of duck hunting hats on the gunmen. Also looks like Lebanon and Syria are the...
