Fred, it looks to me like your 47 case has a bit rounder curves at the break points (main body to shoulder and shoulder to neck). That causes the neck to look a bit longer on the 70s case. Also make sure that there is no gunk in the extractor relief cut - the cut runs from about 1 to 5 oclock on the face of the chamber.
