If you don't unwrap it, how do you know what's in it? Could be grandpa's old .22, right?

Re: Show us your Izhevsk 91/30 refurbs!
God forbid JYD ever sells half his collection. The market glut would drive down the price of everyone's guns. We'd see $50 refurbs again!

Only if it's an original revolutionary war flintlock...Saw a tiger maple musket a few years ago that was absolutely gorgeous.desdem12 wrote:Welcome to the Dark Side Shawn. But are you sure you don't need a muzzleloader or 2?

Re: Show us your Izhevsk 91/30 refurbs!
The 91/30 refurb is most likely the rifle that got the majority of us here in the first place. And, again, most likely, it was a Izhevsk. So bust out those Cabela's and Big 5 specials and proudly show them here! If you're a new member and have been too shy to create a new post, but still secretly w...

Why bother?
Today I realized, I just sold my last "modern" hunting rifle for a milsurp. The more I thought about it the more it occured to me, with some extra practice (more range time is good) and at the ranges I hunt at, there is no reason for me, at this point, to own a "modern" hunting r...

Re: Spanish Civil War Mosin
Very nice Greasemonkey  Wondering if Mexico had any Mosins shipped to them that they put their marks on :?: I don't believe so, I have yet to hear about a Mexican Mosin, but with the way arms float and travel around the world, I'm sure there are some there. There are, I've seen them. They...

Re: help with front sight. so confused
Moving the sight opposite the way you want the bullet to go causes you to swing the back of the rifle to adjust by realigning the rear sight. Therefore, front sight left, back end pivots left on the front sight pointing the muzzle right.

Re: First shots with my first Mosin!
I thought my 43 Izhevsk had a lot of markings... http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n528/Bodger17/PC260341.jpg I've got that triangle 12 and a square T. The triangle 12 is a very rare and desirable Elite Russian Border Guard Sniper mark...at least that's what I like to tell myself. :D Nice rifle an...

Re: Mosin Nagant Roll Call
I was buying stuff so fast back in '07-08 that in some cases I pulled the rifle out of it's shipping box, gave it a one minute once over, sprayed it with cosmo and shoved it back in the box were it still is. That's hard core. Dude has his own cosmoline supply...probably puts it in his coffee... :cl...

Re: Milsurp or not?
I know for sure he bought and paid for the receiver himself. Not sure where he got the stock. As he was an armorer and shot in competition, I'm pretty sure he used other parts from the armory, or possibly acquired through the armory, maybe from CMP. It shoots great. I just happened to have this rifl...

Re: Milsurp or not?
If it's a Garand assembled at a US arsenal for issue to US troops then it is a milsurp, otherwise it is a commercial sporter built from military parts. Universal M1 carbines utilized surplus US parts for years, but they are not considered milsurps, so to did the early built Springfield Sporter M1 G...

Re: Milsurp or not?
Now, when I think Milsurp, what comes into my head is an issued item, or at least an item constructed to be issued to military personnel. If somehow, I were visiting my crazy Uncle Ivan, and he had in his attic a box of new old stock Mosin parts from WWII that he snuck over from the old country, but...

Milsurp or not?
I just had a pleasant conversation with one of the moderators, and just as a curiosity question for the purists, and those less so, I have an M1 Garand built completely from "new old stock" parts, not sure where the wood came from, and was just wondering if it is considered a "true mi...

That a $300 rifle and a $50 to $75 bayonet and throw in $50 plus for the ammo and well, the tiger striping is probably worth.......$400? :bwink: (What?) You got a $875 plus rifle! (how was that?........ I didn't lay it on too think, did I? :D ) Dolk JACKPOT! WOO-HOO!  Picked it up to...
