Re: How old are we.
Wow, you guys make me feel downright young. I'm working my way happily to curmudgeonhood and it sounds like your childhood was so much cooler to wish fondly for. But here goes... I remember when "The Tide is High" was in near constant rotation on the radio. The first movie my dad...

Re: Buying 91/30
If you can, compare one to another and try to notice the details. There are a lot of really informative posts and pages here and on other MN sites that can give you an idea of what you are looking at. I never had a clue what a "laminate ex dragoon" even meant a few months ago, and now when...

Just a quick question
Just checking out the action on my 25 Tula and noticed that the bolt seemed a little loose. It doesn't hold solid like my 43. Is that just normal wear and tear for an 86 year old rifle or is it something I should be worried about? Did a check with my Okies and the headspace was fine. Just when the b...

Re: 1933 Tula, Dragoon?
In Vermont you can buy your gun with a standard background check then carry it openly or concealed without any permits. Here in Virginia I can walk into a store, fill out the background check, and walk out with my gun in the time it takes to make the phone calls. Bought my last Mosin on Monday and i...

Re: 1943 Hex Tula Refurb
Well I had some time so I got it apart and there was a bit of a surprise. Is this receiver really over one HUNDRED years old?!?!? :beek: Don't know if this adds anything to the rifle but I think it is really cool. -Don IMG_2214.JPG Way cool. Definately a keeper. So how is a Izhevsk symbo...

Is it laminated? Doesn't look any shinier than my 43...Jumperwire wrote: Congrats on that one. Great find and a laminated stock
Is any laquer finish considered laminated? If so this fills my hex, Tula, ex-Dragoon, and laminated spaces in my collection.

Re: 1933 Tula, Dragoon?
Everyone seems to think that.. No, its like with handguns down there I would imagine. The police know every handgun you have , and up here they know handguns AND rifles. It's ridiculous. Finally we can buy and sell rifles without registering them. But yeah, we still need a PAL. The licensing stays ...

I have one parent and one grandparent left. I know how hard that is. Prayers are with you.
It's your money and your guns, you do what you want with them. We just don't talk about it here.

Alrighty then. After a night of Hoppes and Gunslick, I have taken a few more pics. The tang date is 1925 as is the receiver. The magazine and a few other parts look to be Izhevsk. http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n528/Bodger17/P2220450.jpg The stock is dark with some really striking grain. Is it ...

Re: Foiled again!-SCORE! W/ Pics.
Shawn that's awesome. did you ask about layaway? That has a small refurb mark above the serial#, and the big hammer on the receiver is really nice. Layaway, late car payment, sell a kidney, borrow, you'll figure it out! I'm one child short now, but the wife will get over it, we have another one com...

Re: Foiled again!
Wish me luck guys, I'm going to check today and post some pics hopefully tonight. With the baby on the way I had to strike a deal that will make this the last until next year. :vsad: This will cover a lot of bases though. I have a round 43 Izhevsk, this will cover Tula, ex Dragoon, and hex. Hope it'...

Re: My M1 Garand
Kommie, I have your answer. You need to sell your Garand, for as much as you think you can get for it. And then immediately take that money and purchase a new Garand that's all yours. Then you at the same time get rid of something that reminds you of your relationship, yet you avoid the future regre...
