Re: Nagant Revolver

I've had a couple over the years but the only two I really miss were a pair of single action only versions I used in CAS for a while. Though the most interesting was a souvenir from the Korean War which I had bought from the GI who brought it home. Before he came home he had the Ordinance shop parke...

Is your magazine bulged? If the magazine is deformed or out of specs it can cause drag on the trigger mechanism.

Re: Single Seven

They look like fun. I've had one of the blued versions in 32 H&R mag for around 25 years. The article is Handloader on the new stainless 7 shot version is the first pistol that made me think something better was available. How was the grip fit and finish? In the article that was something mentio...

Re: Need your advice on a new carry revolver

I'm a long time S&W fan and regularly carry a m37. However my wife is simply a shooter with no brand loyalty and she carries a LCR357. That Ruger is ugly as they come but the trigger pull is smooth and it shoots where you are looking. The LCR is a classic case of function over form. Seeing as yo...

Re: New Acquisition Bulgarian Makarov - Should be C&R But Is

For something to be a C&R it has to be 50+ years old or granted an exception by the BATF. The BATF usually only grants and exception when a curator from a recognized museum sends in a letter explaining why that particular firearm or line of firearms are unusual. This is how the CZ82 became C&...

Re: Corrosive ammo, how to spot it ?

I use a plastic transmission fluid funnel. Remove bolt, affix bayonet, stab bayonet and rifle into the ground, insert funnel into the breach, pour in a quart or two of boiling water, clean with Balistol solution.

Re: Mosin Nagant Type 53 range day

My 53 shoots quite well also. I cannot shoot 2" at 100 yds with it but that is more me than the rifle. Funny that a rifle which was looked down on when they were first imported would turn out to be so well made. They are kinda like Arisakas in that respect. I had a Type 53 on my table at a flea...

Re: .45-70 hunting ammo

This was the first year Ohio allowed pistol caliber rifles for deer hunting and in their wisdom included 45/70 on the list of approved calibers. A friend shot a medium sized (150lb+/-) buck using a Marlin Guide Gun and the Hornady Leverlution ammo at a measured distance of a little over 200 Yds. Now...

Re: Something nice from Beretta

Nice looking pistol and I'm glad you are happy with it. Not surprised your son likes to shoot the 92 as they always struck me as heavy for caliber. When I went through armorers school the 92 was what we trained on as the the 1911A1 was pretty much relegated to reserve units. Pay close attention to r...

Re: Found a good one

Very nice and hard to find in that condition. I found one the same model in very challenged finish condition. I parkerized it and carried it as a woods gun until my daughter adopted it. It would be hard for me to not shoot it, I have a soft spot for 32s.

Everything I've found online seems to run about .50 a shot so I was happy to find this lot. Especially since half looks to be reloadable.

7.62x25 ammo find

So I slipped off to the range for a while today and among other items was shooting my Romanian TT. The guy next to me noticed the pistol and when I was done shooting mentioned he used to own a CZ52 but sold it. He had some ammo left and wondered if I would be interested. i'm always interested if the...

Winchester made some brass/Boxer military 7.62x54R ammo but I've not seen any in decades, and never in bulk.

Re: Liberty Tree 8mm grab bag ammo

Grab bags can be fun. Yeas ago J&G sales offered 60 lb grab boxes for around $30 delivered. I used to kill a lot of evenings sorting through them with a copy of Cartridges of the World. I bagged most into 100 round lots and sold them at gun shows. Built a small collection from the odder stuff, l...

Probably not a "good" reloading book by todays standards but I've kept a copy of George Nontes CARTRIDGE CONVERSIONS around for 30+ years to help reload the occasional odd cartridge.

Re: Cap and ball impulse buy

I fell victim to the same ploy this weekend. By wife wanted to stop at Cabelas to shop for a hat. While I was wondering around I saw the 58 Remingtons with two cylinders on sale for $229. I mention it to my wife and she comments that she always had a soft spot for long barrel revolvers, rummages aro...

Re: Pietta Model 1860 Army

I have a steel frame one like this and they called it an 1851 navy 44 Sales gimmick. Colt NEVER made the '51 Navy model in .44. Jon They didn't, but they should have, I always wondered how a slick operator like Sam Colt missed that opportunity early on. Not until the 1860 Army did we get a .44 that...

Y'all have forgotten Psalms 20, verse 14. I always look askance at a counter bore when I'm buying and negotiating a price. Once the purchase is complete it makes no difference to me.
