Re: M91 Carcano Cavalry Carbine. NY legal?

I forgot to update this.. I managed to get the trigger group out with a couple taps of a rubber mallet. I did notice when I was patching the barrel that there was actually some cosmoline and a couple rust flecks at the very end of the barrel. I got 99% of it out, but one rust fleck I just cannot get...

Re: M1 Garand fair price?

So far, I'm only keeping one rifle of every type, so this one should do FWIW, The CMP $750 gun that is available now is Special Rack grade, so a rough gun that had to be repaired. The $1,000 gun is essentially what I bought minus I got a good original USGI barrel, and not a Criterion which the CMP u...

Re: M1 Garand fair price?

The shop I used for the FFL transfer has a tracking number since he actually took care of getting his license forwarded and shipping address and everything , but I have not had time to call him to get it, as his hours are shortened this time of year during the hunting season. However it's only comin...

That's a lot when you're on a pension. :(
That basically equals out when the exchange rate is factored.

Re: M1 Garand fair price?

I don't have a C&R as it's almost meaningless in NY and getting a CCW permit in my county is BS in itself. I have for sure bought cheaper cars than an M1 Garand, but I've actually bought cars cheaper than a Mosin as well. My first car was the low low price of $400. As far as how much this cost m...

Re: M1 Garand fair price?

I looked into the CMP. I need the life fire training certification to comply since I've never had the urge to hunt, and the local range doesn't have time right now. However I have ordered a rifle. Pics and explanation when I get it.. It was the most fair price outside of the CMP but from someone who...

Re: M1 Garand fair price?

This guys shop is pretty well stocked and a lot of it is fair price. However it's not my go to shop. I have not walked into my 'regular' shop yet as his hours are short and he runs it out of his garage ( his rifle display only has capacity for 20 guns or so ). But if I FFL an M1 Garand, he will be w...

M1 Garand fair price?

Since I've gotten the itch to buy a few milsurps lately with some disposable income. I have been looking at obtaining an M1 Garand as kind of a center piece/ investment but prices seem to run from $1,000- crazy prices. What is a fair market value on something that isn't 'special' beyond being an M1 ...

Re: 8mm mauser, any brand or load to stay away from in M38 Turkish?

I know someone I could pay to reload for me and the PPU brass is re loadable.

As for 7.62x54R. I have more than I'll ever use, but I continue to fill ammo can's full of both 54R and X39 while the prices are right.

Re: 8mm mauser, any brand or load to stay away from in M38 Turkish?

They are even selling the Carcano's they have with a box of PPU ammo.. I know they were having AR's built for them and selling them cheapish, so they have a connection to 'some' gun smith. The bolt does not match the rifle, so I'll buy a bolt body and see if I can get it past Building AR's today is...

I agree, but I don't think I'm paying since they sold the rifle to me as a working firearm. A customer of mine however is a gunsmith that I Would pay

Re: 8mm mauser, any brand or load to stay away from in M38 Turkish?

Well it failed headspace check with No-go gauge. Bolt closed easy.. I'm going to add the 2 pieces of tape since it's a .004 difference between No- Go and Field. If that seems to pass, then I'll buy the field gauge. But I don't expect it will pass given on how easy it closed, hence the tape as a pre ...

Re: Can't feed your Mosin.......

The local gunshop I go to that has Milsurp rifles, has a very beat T53 for something like $600. I do not know what he thinks is special. Most of his other milsurps beyond Mosin's are reasonably in line with what they should be. Also, 7.62x54R is the cheapest milsurp round to shoot by far .60 cents a...

A local gunshop near me has a '48 M44 with a worn but nice stock and nice metal for $450. I think that would bring over $500.. Don't expect them to give you over $400 if your just selling it to them

SG will not ship to my state for any reason, even to an FFL. My usual 2 places that will ship to my door are out of stock.. JG sales will ship to an FFL and they list some German surplus

Re: 8mm mauser, any brand or load to stay away from in M38 Turkish?

Appears to be no 'ghost stamping' or signs of a re used receiver so at this point I think it was 'new' in 1944. Also, will the Gew 98 bolt bodies that Liberty Tree has be what I need if it does not head space?

Re: 8mm mauser, any brand or load to stay away from in M38 Turkish?

So this one is marked Ankara K Kale 1944. That makes this one " new " in 1944 then? I do question the stock however.. ALL of the metal is perfect, BUT the stock has basically no finish although the color is pretty much what I would expect. It's fairly 'rough' but good condition wood. It's ...
