Re: Mosin bolt issue
Can't remember who told me this or where I read it. But it went something like Mosin's were built when men were men don't be afraid to get rough with it. If some poor Russian farmer didn't manage to break it in WW1 and some poor Soviet Conscript didn't manage to break it in WW2 your not gonna manage...

Re: FFL Search....
Much like prices of the transfer fluctuating from store to store in the same city sometimes it seems. How FFL's do their part for shipping also seems to change from store to store. My LGS and another I use down by Cincinnati have a copy of it on their websites so you can just send it to whoever your...

Re: Adventures in Plumbing.......
This is why I just do everything myself, it may end up half assed, but at least I didn't pay someone else to fuck it up. Subscribing the the old why pay someone else to fuck it up when you can do it just as well and all for the cost of a 12 pack I see :chuckles: That being said whoever the contract...

Re: Scary AK
That piece could have come from our local "gunsmith's" shop. I wouldn't let him work on a water pistol. Before I knew what a butcher that he was, I had him lower the ejection port on a favorite 1911. The work was done with a Dremel with a coarse stone and cold blued, and believe me, it lo...

Re: 7.62x51 versus 308 Debate
Actual cartridge sizing/naming aside, not all ammo is created equal. Following the "wise advice from the internet" that its ok to use 7.62 in a commercial 308 I ordered 500 rounds of steel case Chinese surplus when I got my Savage 99 in 308. The issue with this particular 7.62 is that its...

Re: 20 rd plastic Magazine in SKS
I'ma guess that plastic mag will do nothing in 922R respect since people modify them to take 30 round AK mags all the time. The better question though is why even bother with a plastic mag the original is good enough. Also at that price why even bother. But whoever buys it at that price tell them I ...

The only steel I know of is that Winchester Steel case 9mm. Outside that though no don't think the US has.

Re: Any improvement?
I just re-stored all my ammo this last weekend. I was startled at how much ammo I had! All I could see is the cops coming over and arresting me for nothing and spreading all that ammo and stuff on the lawn for the Media to take pictures of the "crazy guy" stores! :chuckles: Darryl Fat cha...

Re: Any improvement?
I have been interviewing big box gun stores about how much ammo they are getting in. They all have told me that they are only getting in one third of what they used to get. Where is the rest going if we are told ammunition factories are running 24/7 ? I can understand people buying it up as soon as...

Your correct it is Bulgarian and assembled in Bulgaria. Only the Furniture is American with the furniture being US made to comply with 922r.

Re: Unidentified 7.62 Spam Can
Match grade 7.62x54r someone asked the same thing over on gunboards and then some one found where Sportsmans Guide actually was selling that exact can at once. Of course the only way to know for sure is to open it. If it's pistol ammo that's and awfully big can for 240 rounds. ammo.png Also if it is...

Re: 7.62x51 versus 308 Debate
Many years ago (like 10) I did extensive research about this when my uncle gave me a Garand that had been rebarreled by Arlington Ordnance with a 7.62x51 NATO stamped barrel. I read the debate about.223 vs 5.56 and saw that Sammi had a listing for those and not to use 5.56 in a .223 chamber but not...

Re: 7.62x51 versus 308 Debate
I mean .308 is slightly hotter when commercially loaded by about 4,000 psi but seeing as 7.62 rifles are probably proof tested much higher then that I'd think that would be a none issue. I always thought the real issue was actually case thickeness along with head space .308 being 1.630 to 1.6340 and...

Re: Gun show.......
Since the mid to late 90s, the only really good deals I have got at gun shows is from people walking in with stuff on their shoulders. I will not be going to another show until a month after my second Covid shot. Then, with the way things are going, I will probably get a table. What would you recko...
