Re: New Members, Make your first post here!

Hello everyone, I just purchased a Mosin M91 this past weekend at a gun show. Tula 1894 stamped stock with matching bolt. That being said the stock is in great shape but with a cross bolt. After looking a many M91 posted here the stock may have been an add on. A lot of great information here. I jus...

Re: American Rifleman Article on the Mosin Nagant

This is a fairly good article that briefly explains the development of the Mosin Nagant rifle. However, it is not comprehensive and there is a lot that is left out, especially about the modifications resulting in the M91/30. Also there is one reference that indicates the rifle is still being produc...

Finn Captured 41 mark M91/30

First Finnish captured 91/30. The wood definitely got the used look which attracted me to this. The only thing on the rifle that seems to be matching is the Finn matched bolt, which is an Izhevsk bolt. So even that isn't truly matching, but that's fine with me since its rare to find anything on a mo...

Re: German Captured 91/30's?

Wow nice rifles! Thanks for sharing that information. First time I'm hearing about this. I guess a lot of them must have made it back into Soviet hands or just sent to Finland. Makes sense. I've just never seen these or heard about these before and made me wonder if Germany has some mosins stored so...

German Captured 91/30's?

Hey guys! Been a long time since I posted on here, but I just ordered another Mosin so I have that coming in and it got me thinking. Maybe I've somehow managed to totally miss this or misunderstand, but why do we never see Nazi captured 91/30's? I know the Germans captured and sent M91's to Finland ...

Re: I think the Milsurp Bubble is Leaking

It sounds like prices and sales are down across the board. Dealers in NJ are hurting so bad they are hoping Murphy wins and changes the laws to match CA. This way they will at least have compliance work to do. Saw this while secretly logged into a dealer only chat. I can't wait for SCOTUS to rule t...

Re: Finnish M28 w/ Ski Trooper stock

Hey guys, been busy at work and sick so I haven't taken the time to really check this post till today. What Dolk is saying seems to make sense to me. Doesn't seem to me that it would have been bead blasted. Just normal wear on the action. The stock you guys seem to be right about. I guess it was cle...

Re: Finnish M28 w/ Ski Trooper stock

The butt plate 34 stamp matching the last two numbers of the serial number would make this the original stock would it not? If this is true it would prove the whole first 6,000 M28's were ski troopers thing wrong. ''The stock is a modified M91 stock. It was shortened and the barrel channel was made...

Re: Finnish M28 w/ Ski Trooper stock

Interesting Ski trooper! Looks like the stock might have been from a Westinghouse m91. I'm jealous, still waiting to see a ski trooper in person myself! Thank you! What did you look at to believe it might have been a Westinghouse M91 stock? Always want to learn more about these rifles. The 3rd from...

Re: Finnish M28 w/ Ski Trooper stock

That’s a nice one! How is the bore? From what I can see in your photos it looks like a civil guard symbol and number on the stock in photo 10, a civil guard acceptance SYT in the finger groove on photo 4, and I think the other 2 you show are Russian proofs. Others will weigh in and confirm or deny ...

Based on the district number, this is a state-funded rifle from Swedish-speaking Kristinestad Civil Guard.
Thanks Martti! Very interesting.

Finnish M28 w/ Ski Trooper stock

The addiction continues haha. Picked up my new Finnish M28 yesterday. I'm pretty happy with it. I don't think the ski trooper stock is the rifles original stock. I've read the first 6,000 were made with the ski trooper stocks, but mine has serial number 10934. So I'm assuming this ski trooper stock ...

Pre-1942 PU Snipers?

Hey everyone. I have a question. I've seen a couple of PU snipers now that are dated 1937 and 1938. From what reading I have done the PU sniper version wasn't made until 1942. My question is are these real or are they fakes people are putting out as PU's?

Re: M1891 NE Westinghouse. Finnish captured/bought?

What I found really cool and interesting is that it was send to the Finnish Civil Guard from the Finnish Army since it has the SS75642 marking on the barrel shank which would make it the Savonlinna Civil Guard District. Correct me if I'm wrong. Savonlinna Civil Guard District ( Savonlinnan suojelus...
